Silt Solar Permitting

The purpose of the Town of Silt Municipal Code regulations regarding solar energy systems is to provide a regulatory framework for the construction of solar energy systems within the Town of Silt, subject to reasonable restrictions that will preserve the public health, safety, and welfare, while also maintaining the character of the Town.

The Town requires a miscellaneous permit for roof-mounted solar on residential and commercial structures - please follow this link.

The Building Division strives to review and issue solar permits within 2 - 3 business days, assuming a complete permit application is submitted. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the building inspector at (970) 876-2353 Ext. 110.

There is a $50 fee for all solar installations, plus use tax on a portion of the materials. The Town performs a maximum of two inspections. Applicants shall call for inspection appointments (Building Inspector (970) 876-2353 Ext. 110) and the Town will perform such inspections within 48 hours.

The Town is working with CLEER (Clean Energy Economy for the Region) and GCE (Garfield Clean Energy) to encourage alternative sources of energy for a more sustainable future.
