Levy Burris
Levy has been the Chief of Police for the Town of Silt since 2007 and has been in law enforcement for 30 years. In the past he has worked for the City of Rifle, the City of Glenwood Springs, as well as Undersheriff for Garfield County. Chief Burris also assists with many boards including TRIDENT, Communications Board, Public Safety Council and the I-70 West Training Region.
Chief Burris has extensive experience as a Public Information Officer, a Field Training Officer, development of policies and procedures to maintain acceptable and recognized practices within the law enforcement community, various types of investigations, training coordinator, experience in the Incident Command System and has worked with local, state and federal agencies during disasters.
In addition to performing law enforcement duties and taking care of the daily operations of his department, Levy also has experience in writing and administering grants, planning and organizing crime prevention programs, youth activities, seminars for civic groups, drug enforcement and enforcement of State and local liquor laws.
